The Peabody Essex Museum, one of the largest and most dynamic art museums in the nation, is seeking a highly talented Assistant Photographer to provide a wide range of photographic support throughout the museum. Under the direction of the Senior Photographer, the successful candidate will need to draw upon a wide range of camera, lighting, digital processing, digital asset management, and interpersonal skills to work successfully within the institution. Subjects include people, places and rare and priceless objects of art and culture for use in internal and external projects. The Assistant Photographer is the primary photographer of weekend and evening events and programs. This is a part-time position requiring a commitment of nineteen hours per week.

The position requires at least five years experience as a professional photographer, working both on location and in the studio, shooting a wide range of subject matter. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work within a creative team. Experience in advanced studio lighting, and digital imaging techniques, in depth production expertise using Adobe Photoshop to prepare images for publication and on-line use, and experience using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are required. Strong communication skills and organization skills are also required.

Candidates must have a BA in Photography or a related field, or relevant combination of education and experience.
