The Financial Communications division of McGraw-Hill Professional, has an exciting opportunity for aGraphic Designer , based in our Boston, MA office. Financial Communications (FC) is a provider of print and digital communications solutions for the financial services industry. Financial Communications offers banks, funds and brokerages the high-impact marketing materials, financial education products, and electronic tools they need to successfully attract and retain customers. Working closely with clients, the Graphic Designer must possess a detailed, in-depth knowledge of their accounts' marketing objectives and goals and how these are addressed within the Financial Communications product line. Additionally, the graphic designer is responsible for the overall design of between 8 and 12 accounts with products including: newsletter programs, brochures, booklets, annual reports and supplemental web products. Essential Accountabilities include: Design and create newsletters and other collateral material that bring to life the client's brand and marketing vision. This requires a thorough knowledge of the design standards and marketing objectives for each client as well as internal objectives for new products. Attend weekly project planning meetings and inform teammates and management of client concerns and scheduling conflicts. Maintain control of art budgets in terms of photography usage and illustration commissions from freelancers per client project. Provide design guidance and direction to the designers and continually strive to create and deliver the highest-quality and polished products. Ensure timely and complete delivery of all client deliverables. Maintain through database, all client files and related support materials. Work closely with the production team to ensure the highest quality print standards and ensure the design intent is preserved through the process. Participate in brainstorming sessions and work with the senior designer to create visual designs for a variety of web applications. The ideal candidate will possess : Minimum 6-8 years design experience. Must have thorough knowledge of Quark Xpress, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, preferably using Macintosh. Natural ability to conceptualize, design and create new artwork with frequency and ease from inception through creation of final design. A solid understanding of typography, color, composition, hierarchy and how these elements work together to design solutions. Experience working directly with clients to describe the design solutions. Comfortable justifying design decisions and making recommendations that improve the client brand and marketing goals. Thorough knowledge of prepress and print technologies required. Ability to evaluate, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to troubleshoot software, prepress and electronic file preparation issues prior to sending files to production. Meticulous attention to detail. Experience in web design (HTML and CSS) and Flash is a plus. BFA in the graphic design/communications field. McGraw-Hill Education: Where The World Learns to Succeed.
