Photography Instructor
Photography Instructor (#3FHU05) The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Photography Instructor for Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. The position reports directly to the Division Dean. Salary The initial salary placement range is $56,202 - $80,348/yr, depending on education and experience. Assignment The position is full-time, tenure track, Fall 2009 " Spring 2010 Academic Year. Employment will begin on August 13, 2009. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: *Master’s in photography, fine arts, or art OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in art history or humanities OR **the equivalent. *Degrees in Progress: To be conferred on or before July 1, 2009 will be considered, provided that the applicant also submits (1) an up-to-date transcript, (2) a photocopy of the degree requirement from the school catalog, and (3) proof of current course(s) and enrollment. Demonstrate sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and/or learning disabilities. Desirable Qualifications Hands-on experience in professional print and video production for photography; One or more years of college-level teaching experience in the subject field; Minimum of 5 years of experience as a professional photographer. Particular Job Characteristics Ability to teach traditional photography " black & white and color " in a traditional photographic studio AND evidence of ability to teach digital photography in a Mac/PC environment using software such as Photoshop, Aperture, and Lightroom; Ability to teach digital videography in a Mac/PC environment using digital editing software such as Adobe Premier; Ability to teach digital black & white and color production for photography; Ability to teach basic design, black & white and color theory, and the history of photography and/or film and animation; Ability to work successfully as a team with other instructors and colleagues in campus professional activities including committees, Division meetings, to lead in appropriate and innovative curriculum planning, and community outreach; Ability to teach late afternoon, evening, weekend, distance learning and/or off-campus classes when scheduled as part of regular teaching assignment; Ability to interact successfully with others; Ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities, including distance learning. Please describe your professional work as a photographer and how those skills help to qualify you to be a full time instructor at Las Positas College.
